How a Visit Works

From your phone call to the final walkthrough, here is what to expect.

  1. 1

You call and tell us what's going on

We ask a few quick questions about the system, its age and what you're noticing, like strange noises, short cycling or no heat at all. Then we set a time that works for you.

  2. 2

We inspect and show you what we find

Our technician checks the equipment, takes photos of any worn or damaged parts and explains what's failing and why. If you're weighing a replacement, we lay out two or three equipment options and how they differ.

  3. 3

    You get a written quote

Parts, labor and the total, all on paper. You decide with no pressure to sign that day.

  4. 4

We do the work and clean up

We protect your floors, finish the job, test the system through a full cycle and show you how everything runs. Old equipment and packaging leave with us.

What Moves the Price of a Repair or New System

Every home is a little different, so we price each job after we've seen it. Here is what tends to make a quote go up or down, so nothing on the paper surprises you.

Estimates are free on installations and replacements. For repairs, the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair, and you get a written quote before any work begins.

Equipment type and efficiency
A standard single-stage furnace costs less up front than a two-stage or modulating model. Higher-efficiency units use more refined parts, like variable-speed blower motors, and usually cost less to run through a long cold winter.
Materials inside the unit
Copper coils are easier to repair and handle corrosion differently than all-aluminum coils. Stainless steel heat exchangers resist the acidic condensate that high-efficiency furnaces produce. Better materials raise the price and often extend the life.
Sizing for your home
Equipment has to match your home's square footage, insulation and windows. We run the numbers instead of guessing, because an oversized unit cycles on and off and wears out faster.
Access and setup
A furnace in a tight crawlspace or an outdoor unit that needs a new pad or electrical work takes more time than an easy basement swap.
Fuel and electrical changes
Switching from propane or electric baseboard to a heat pump may call for a new circuit or panel space. Staying with the same fuel is usually simpler.
Permits
New installations generally need a permit and inspection. We pull the permit and include it in your quote.

Why Homeowners Call Us

Picking new equipment is easier when someone explains what's inside the box. That's how we work on every visit, repair or replacement.

  1. 01

We explain the equipment, not just the price

A furnace with a stainless steel secondary heat exchanger, a coil made of copper versus aluminum, a single-stage versus variable-speed compressor. These details change how long a system lasts and how it feels in your home. We walk you through them in plain words so you can weigh the trade-offs yourself.

  2. 02

A written quote before any work begins

You see the parts, the labor and the total on paper before we touch anything. If we find something else once we're in, we stop and talk with you first.

  3. 03

    Honest repair-or-replace answers

Plenty of older systems have years left in them after one good repair. When a repair makes sense, we say so. When a cracked heat exchanger or a failing compressor means replacement is the smarter spend, we show you what we found.

  4. 04

    Help when it can't wait

Our emergency HVAC repair runs 24/7, and there are no emergency or after-hours fees. A furnace that quits at 2 a.m. costs the same to fix as one that quits at noon.

  5. 05

We leave your home the way we found it

Drop cloths go down, shoes get covered, and old parts leave with us.

We're a heating and cooling company that works on homes in and around Latah. Our days are spent in basements, crawlspaces and backyards, fixing furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps, and putting in new systems when the old ones are done.

What we hear most from homeowners is that they've been handed a price with no explanation. So we do it differently. We tell you what a part is made of, why it failed and what your choices are, then let you decide. Many folks keep their system longer than they expected after talking with us, and that's fine by us.

Questions We Hear Often

Something not covered here? (509) 213-1614

Is the quote really free?

Yes. Estimates are free on installations and replacements, and we come out, look at your home and put the numbers in writing. For repairs there is a diagnostic fee, but it's credited toward the repair if you go ahead with it.

Should I repair my furnace or replace it?

It depends on the age of the unit, what failed and what the repair costs compared to a new system. A bad igniter or flame sensor is usually worth fixing. A cracked heat exchanger is a safety concern and typically means replacement. We'll show you what we found and give you an honest answer either way.

Will a heat pump keep my home warm in a real winter?

Today's cold-climate heat pumps keep producing heat well below freezing, which older models could not. For the coldest stretches, many homeowners pair a heat pump with a furnace backup or electric heat strips. We'll explain the setups and which suits your home.

Are there rebates or tax credits for a new heat pump?

Often, there are. Qualifying heat pumps can be eligible for Avista rebates and federal tax credits, and we'll help you claim them. When we go over equipment options, we flag the models that qualify and walk you through the paperwork so the savings don't slip by.

How do you figure out what size system my home needs?

We don't go by the size of the old unit, since it may have been wrong from the start. We look at square footage, insulation, window area and how the rooms are laid out, then run a load calculation. A properly sized system runs longer, steadier cycles, which keeps rooms more even and puts less wear on the parts.

Do you charge extra for nights and weekends?

No. Our emergency HVAC repair is available 24/7, and there are no emergency or after-hours fees. You pay the same rate whenever the system breaks down.

What's included in a maintenance plan?

Our maintenance plans include tune-ups, repair discounts and priority scheduling. A spring visit for the air conditioner and a fall visit for the furnace catch worn parts before they fail. Ask us about the details on your call.

Ready to Talk Through Your Options?
